Professor Dhananjay Ravat received his BSc. degree in Geology from Maharaja Sayajirao University Of Baroda, India and M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in Grophysics from Prudue University, USA. For the last 15 years he has been teaching and conducting research with his undergraduate and postgraduate students at Southern Illinois University Carbondale Illinois, USA, in topics pertaining to exploration of the earth and planets with gravity and magnetic fields using data from NASA’s and European space agency satellites. His additional teaching and research interests lie in fields of solid –earth geophysics, tectonics and environmental geophysics using ground, air- born and space-borne data. He has written over 40 research articles in several leading journals including articles in Oxford and Kluwer encyclopaedias related to Earth science.

He has been an associate editor of the gravity section of the journal, geophysics and edited special issues of ‘Selsmological Research Letters’ and ‘The Leading Edge’. He has served on several panels for improvement of gravity and magnetic data sets of North America, world digital magnetic anomaly map and NASA, US geological survey, US National Science Foundation research proposal reviews. He is a life member of geological Society of India American geophysical Union, Society of exploration geophysical International Association of mathematical geology and a member of environmental and engineering geophysical society and American association for advancement of science.
